Water

About ¾ of the Earth is water. 97% of it is salty. The other 3% is fresh but most of it is frozen in glaciers or buried deep in the ground leaving only about 0.08 of 1% accessible to people.

Canadians are one of the world's most voracious consumers of fresh water. We have a lot. The Great Lakes contain 18% of the world supply. We waste a lot. Canadians use a total of 10 billion liters a day in their homes. That's about 3.5 trillion litres a year. Think of all the chemicals and energy needed to clean and pump that water to our homes and all the chemicals and energy needed to clean it and put it back into the environment once we've used it.

Count yourself in to use less water and reduce your impact on the environment.
